Roadblocks to Success

Have you ever thought about what stops you from reaching your goals? Do you have any personal dreams or professional targets you would like to work on? What is that stops us from reaching our full potential?  We often attribute the success of others to luck, though typically it is   hard work and determination that got them where they are. It requires tenacity to keep going when there are obstacles.  There will be obstacles. So what are the roadblocks to success?

1. EXCUSES
Excuses, excuses, excuses, we all know how to use these, especially when things don’t work out as planned. If we can  find a reason why failure is not our fault, we tend to deflect the blame away from ourselves. It’s tempting to blame society, the economy, our status, or even our luck, but when we stop making excuses, a world of possibilities opens up to us.

2. PROCRASTINATION
We all know that feeling, of having an unpleasant job ahead of us, yet  we can be distracted by something else. Well, that is called procrastination.  It is a waste of time and energy; because the longer you put something off that needs doing the longer you extend the stress associated with it. To avoid this trap, focus on the results instead.  By redirecting away from the unpleasant execution towards the results of that task, it will now become less daunting and more urgent.

3. RESISTANCE TO CHANGE
As we grow older, we start to feel pressure from the society to blend in and try not to stand  out too much, just go with the flow. In most cases, changing the way we do things means stepping outside of our comfort zone. But, the world is changing and so are we. If we don’t want to be left behind, we have to venture outside of our comfort zone from time to time. Learn a new way to do things, get input from a variety of sources or just recognize where you are just a little too comfortable.  Accepting and welcoming change is often the key to success.

4. FEAR
Fear of the unknown or fear of failure is often the most common roadblock on our way to success. We have to learn to face our fear, look it squarely in the eyes and see it for what it really is. When you recognize your fear, you empower yourself. The only power fear has it what you give it. Remember, if you don’t learn to control your fears, they will control you.

5. APATHY
Without the proper motivation, we would feel apathetic towards our goals and success would simply look like too much work. It is all about setting inspiring goals that will give us the drive to succeed. Apathy is a result of uninspiring goals, so maybe it’s time to rethink your goals.
